Monserrat Rodr\u00edguez Le\u00f3n, directora de la carrera de Ciencias de la Nutrici\u00f3n de la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Guadalajara (UAG).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>05.11.20244.- En la actualidad se reconoce a la dieta mediterr\u00e1nea como un patr\u00f3n de alimentaci\u00f3n clave para la prevenci\u00f3n de enfermedades cr\u00f3nicas, particularmente para la salud del coraz\u00f3n y se ha demostrado cada vez m\u00e1s, que la adherencia a este tipo de dieta ayuda a mantener el colesterol en niveles \u00f3ptimos y prevenir enfermedades cardiacas.<\/p>\n<p>La dieta mediterr\u00e1nea reduce 30% la aparici\u00f3n de complicaciones cardiovasculares mayores y, por lo tanto, es considerada una excelente estrategia para este fin. Adem\u00e1s, tambi\u00e9n previene la aparici\u00f3n de diabetes, c\u00e1ncer, deterioro cognitivo y enfermedades neurodegenerativas.<\/p>\n<p>Hoy en d\u00eda este patr\u00f3n de alimentaci\u00f3n se considera como uno de los m\u00e1s saludables, tiene su origen en Grecia e Italia y los pa\u00edses que bordean la costa Mediterr\u00e1nea y, en general, consiste en tener un alto consumo de verduras, frutas, granos, cereales integrales, frijoles, frutos secos, semillas, aceite de oliva y hierbas que se utilizan como condimento en la preparaci\u00f3n de los platillos. Adem\u00e1s, disminuir el consumo de alimentos ultra procesados y preferir los alimentos frescos es bueno para el coraz\u00f3n, sin olvidar la reducci\u00f3n del consumo de grasas como tocino, chicharr\u00f3n, quesos y moderar el de alimentos fritos, sal y az\u00facares a\u00f1adidos.<\/p>\n<p>Existen ingredientes que no son de f\u00e1cil acceso en M\u00e9xico, sin embargo, se han hecho esfuerzos por adaptar los alimentos mexicanos y continuar recibiendo los beneficios de esta dieta.<\/p>\n<p>Es importante comenzar a reducir el consumo de carnes rojas e incrementar el de pescado y huevo, ya que \u00e9stos \u00faltimos contienen \u00e1cidos grasos poliinsaturados que ayudan a disminuir el colesterol en la sangre. Otras fuentes alimenticias de este tipo de \u00e1cidos grasos es el aceite de oliva y frutos secos como nueces, pistaches, almendras o semillas, que son de f\u00e1cil acceso en nuestro pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n<p>En M\u00e9xico, el 70% de la poblaci\u00f3n no consume suficientes frutas y verduras, por lo que se requiere asegurar su ingesti\u00f3n, ya que aportan fibra, vitaminas, minerales y otras sustancias que ayudan en la prevenci\u00f3n de la enfermedad cardiaca. Incluir el frijol es importante, que es un alimento rico en prote\u00ednas, fibra, hierro y \u00e1cido f\u00f3lico; esta leguminosa tambi\u00e9n juega un papel importante en la regulaci\u00f3n del colesterol en sangre.<\/p>\n<p>Los cereales integrales incluyen alimentos como la tortilla de ma\u00edz, camote, papa trigo, hojuelas de avena y arroz. Estos tienen beneficios importantes como la reducci\u00f3n de los niveles del colesterol LDL, que es conocido como el colesterol \u201cmalo\u201d; incremento de los niveles del colesterol HDL \u201cbueno\u201d; disminuci\u00f3n de los niveles de insulina y presi\u00f3n arterial, y dan una sensaci\u00f3n de saciedad que ayuda a controlar la cantidad de alimentos que se consumen a lo largo del d\u00eda. Todas estas propiedades son las que ayudan a disminuir las enfermedades del coraz\u00f3n y mantener los vasos sangu\u00edneos en mejores condiciones.<\/p>\n<p>La dieta mediterr\u00e1nea, adaptada a los alimentos mexicanos, ofrece grandes beneficios para la poblaci\u00f3n de nuestro pa\u00eds, ya que las enfermedades cardiacas son la principal causa de muerte en M\u00e9xico. Al incorporar alimentos ricos en antioxidantes, grasas saludables y fibra se promueve un estilo de vida m\u00e1s saludable. Adaptar la gastronom\u00eda mexicana a este patr\u00f3n de alimentaci\u00f3n hace m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil su adopci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Este tipo de alimentaci\u00f3n se recomienda para personas con riesgo cardiovascular, quienes est\u00e1n en proceso de recuperaci\u00f3n de una enfermedad del coraz\u00f3n o simplemente quienes deseen llevar un estilo de vida m\u00e1s saludable.
